Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

German WWII Panther G Tank - By Rick Hoskinson

This model was inspired by the book Duel in the Mist 2. Rick Hoskinson started with the Panther G (late) and Panther A kits from Trident. From the A model the chinless gun mantle and the rear deck with low cooling fans were swapped to the G model. A scratchbuilt gun tube was fitted to the new mantle and all fans and radiator grilles were screened. The track mount hooks were made from small staples and attached to the turret roof. The cleaning rod tube was rolled from wine bottle foil and the roof mounted rain guard over the gun mantle was also made of foil. Plastic tracks were replaced with Paul Heiser cast resin tracks. The tow cable was made from fine twisted wire and the antenna was turned and tapered from .010" brass. Paint is three color late war with the disc pattern overlay in dark yellow.

This Panther represents an actual vehicle that fought at Chemin Vielle Voie in the Battle of the Bulge. The actual tank was built at M.N.H. in September 1944 and was lost in December that same year as part of Kampfegruppe Peiper.
