Jim Groeneweg built this Freightliner FLC120 truck tractor using a Paul Kittle resin casting of a Play Art die-cast toy cab modified by shaving oversized rivets, fashioning new fenders, a wider bumper, and modified grille, finishing off with a sun visor. The cab is mounted on a modified Athearn Freightliner chassis with A-Line fuel tanks (steps added) and resin battery boxes turned sideways with added steps, aluminum exhaust stack with Masterbilt Models exhaust heat shields, stainless half fenders over the drives, mud flap/tail light brackets with Paul Kittle “CAT Diesel Power” decals, flush mounted acetate windshield, Herpa windshield wipers, Athearn air horns, and mirrors fabricated from staples and sheet plastic. It is finished in R-M BASF auto paint '85 Toyota Super Red with silver stripe in base/clear and the chassis is British Leyland Engine red. All chrome is Liquid Chrome ink pen by Molotow except wheels which are Athearn chromed. The trailer is Walthers' latest offering of the Trailmobile 40’ dry van painted in grey with silver trim shown previously. Previously featured in Photo Gallery 780. Posted February 18, 2019 |
