Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Gravel Quarry Operation - By Simone Pallini

This terrific rock quarry scene from Italian modeler Simone Pallini is a portion of his scenic backdrop for his collection of trucks and earth moving vehicles in 1/87 scale. The construction started in October 2015 with the quarry because he wanted to create a setting for my construction machines. The landscape is totally "invented," possibly similar to some of the Garfagnana area (Tuscany). The quarry is totally scratchbuilt (stone are of paper, glue, and polyurethane. Inside of that are a scale for weighing trucks and a crusher with two conveyor belts and control room. Near the gallery is a tower of electric controls with a lot of men at work. The vehicles are Herpa, Rietze, and Busch, some of which are kitbashed or modified compared to the original models.
