Gary Walton built these highly detailed models of a Herpa Mack CH613 single axle truck tractor and Lonestar Models Trailmobile 40' flatbed. These models first appeared in the 2nd Annual Vehicle Supplement in the pages of Model Railroading Magazine in April of 1996. This would be the first of many modeling articles featuring trucks and trailers built by Gary. The models represent a prototype combination photographed in downtown Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1995 and sparked the author's interest in common, working prototypes. Numerous manufacturers are represented in the building of these models including Herpa, Alloy Forms, Lonestar Models, Microscale, Plano Model Products, Evergreen Styrene, A-Line, and PollyScale.
