Canadian National Kershaw 130 Ton MoW Truck Crane - By Scott Morrison

Here is another pair of photos of Scott Morrison's beautiful 130 ton Kershaw truck crane built from a Custom Finishing kit with a few minor modifications. Scott substituted Herpa Off-Road Tires/Rims for the kit supplied pewter wheels and tires. Various driving lights from Herpa were added to the front bumper. The front and rear railway marker lights (green, red and clear) are from MV Lenses. Tie down rings from Utah Pacific were also added to the chassis of the crane. The model was painted with True Line Paints CN Orange. The CN logos are from CDS Lettering, the safety stripes are from A-Line, and the hazardous material placards/licence plates are from Microscale.

Scott says he stumbled across a photo of a similar CN Hy-Rail crane sitting on a CN bulkhead flat car like the one shown here while looking at the Railway Picture Archives website. I decided this would be a good way to showcase this model. The bulkhead flat is from True Line Trains and is stock, with the exception of some plastic lengths added between to the stake pockets, as per the prototype. The car number was also changed to match the MoW number of the prototype car. The load is secured with tie down chain ratchets from Overland Models, chain from Builders in Scale and wood from the scrap box. Both models were finished off with Bragdon Enterprises weathering chalks. Featured previously in Photo Gallery 624.
