Peterbilt Fuel Tanker From Movie "Duel" - By David Biedermann

Here's another version of the model of the 1960's era Peterbilt 351/281 with tanker trailer in the movie "Duel". The models are made from resin kits purchased on eBay; the truck is a Peterbilt 381/351 with tanker (1955 and 1960 vintage Petes were used in the movie), and the 1968 Plymouth Valiant car is a reasonable facsimile of the 1971 Plymouth Valiant used in the movie.

After considerable filing, fitting, painting and weathering, additional pieces include the battery covers, air cleaner, rear view mirror on the hood (the driver would watch the exhaust to monitor how clean the engine was burning fuel), side mirrors, windshield wipers (including dusty windshield), and horn. The seven license plates on the front bumper (supposedly how many motorists the driver had killed) match both state and numbers of those used in the movie, and can be read through a magnifier (one hangs underneath the right side.) And as in the movie, you can't see the driver....

The chase scene coming down the mountain were taken on the Columbia, Cascade and Western Model Train layout.
