Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

WWII German Tiger Tank - By Rick Hoskinson

Rick Hoskinson modified a Roco Tiger E early version tank into a late version by adding H&K late style tracks and road wheels and replacing the cupola on the turret with a late version from a Roco Bergetiger recovery vehicle. Rick removed the air cleaners and ducting and modified the rear engine deck to late configuration, adding etched brass screens for radiators. He made tow cables and track install cable from fine copper wire, added hand applied antimagnetic paste from Tamiya putty painted and camouflaged with Modelmasters. Rick applied winter cammo over the top and dry brushed it for the faded effect. An application of mud consists of a mixture of dry pigments and liquid latex matte. The unit insignia and tank number represent a vehicle commanded by Otto Carius, the famous Tiger Ace of WWII.
