Dean Hess built this Esso tanker truck as a challenge of sorts from Bob Sundstrom of Model Freightways for a build-up article in his magazine. The tractor cab is a Sylvan White WC22 mounted on an Athearn three axle chassis and fuel tanks; note crossover plates, service lines, and spare tire. Also the handbuilt rear fenders really set off the tractor and work well with the arched wheel openings on the 34' Fruehauf trailer. The trailer started as a Promotex 40', chopped down to 34 ft. Dean worked from a couple of photos and some detailed Fruehauf drawings.
