Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Link-Belt Log Loader - By Dennis Raper

Dennis Raper built this skid-dozer model in the foreground to represent a Caterpillar 527 tracked skidder. It was built from a Norscot D5M dozer on which Dennis moved the sprocket forward, added limb-risers, built the boom from styrene, and used a grapple from the Matchbox skid dozer. Dennis also screened the back of the cab with brass screen from K&S. The Link Belt 330 LX was built from three Norscot Caterpillar excavators, one 320D and two 315Cs. The boom and grapple were built from styrene. The grapple opens, closes, spins, and swings. The Peterbilt 377 truck tractor pulling the log trailer is from Model Power with the sleeper cut off, stripped of it's original paint, repainted, headache rack added, and lots of scratchbuilt detail items. The log trailer was built from an Athearn 40' container chassis with folding landing gear and bolsters and standards made from styrene.
