1924 Autocar Straight Truck - By Randy Sawyer

Ray Churchwell is the brother-in-law of Randy Sawyer and has had to move quite a bit of furniture in his seventy-four years. So, this 1924 Autocar rack van is just what Ray's Piano Moving Company needs to move the heavy upright piano owned by Randy's sister. Randy's sister is a nurse by profession, so if Ray hurts his back moving her piano, Connie knows just what to do in the event of an emergency. Randy watched intently as Ray tried to figure out how to move a six foot nine inch piano through a six foot eight inch entry door. Ray had the solution, as he decided to install a bigger door, and cut the door opening higher on top making the move possible. Of course this little story is in jest as there are probably no pianos that are six foot nine inches high, and Ray is really a retired oil refinery worker.

This model of a 1924 Autocar Rack Van was built from scratch in 2008 using styrene, brass, and scale lumber.  The wheels are by Jordan, and the driver figure is by Preiser, modified and hand painted by Randy.
