Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Detroit Diesel 8V-71 Engine Assembly - By Ralph Ratcliffe

This exceptional little jewel is another of Ralph Ratcliffe's masterpieces! This is a 1/87 scale model of the fairly ubiqitous two stroke Detroit Diesel 8V-71 from the 1960-1970s. This and the other 71 series of Detroit Diesel engines (in in-line two, three, four, and six, V6, V8, V12, V16, and V24 configurations) were used not only in on-highway trucks but also the near exclusive engine used in intercity buses of the era, very common in transit buses, and many off-road and stationary applications.
