Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Mack B71 Integral Sleeper Truck Tractor - By Thomas Lange

This terrific Mack B71 integral sleeper from German modeler Thomas Lange began as a model from his hobby shop's clearance/sale rack. Thomas says he originally thought a cab extension for the integral sleeper would not be a big deal. But after adding the extension with Evergreen strips it somehow did not look right. So he compared again with prototype photos and discovered that the cab is not only longer but wider as well. So this meant some "major surgery"; Thomas cut off his cab extension again, split it, and cut into the window frame of the cab's doors to bend them outward. Then the rest is more glue, more Evergreen strips, more filler and more grinding. So far so good Thomas reports, why not push the envelope a little further? The speciality of the B71 is the frontal hood extension to fit longer engines. So again, more glue, more Evergreen strips, more filler and more grinding. For the result, see for yourself!
