2003 National Convention Winner - Diorama & Favorite Model Categories; Best of Show Award

Thomas Kelly took the Favorite Model and Diorama categories and Best of Show Award with this diorama of a pile driving scene depicting new highway bridge construction. The pile driver was built from two different Kibri plastic kits with a Plastruct cage around the pile driver mechanism. The yellow crane is a pilot model for an American 5299 built using a resin crane cab and crawler unit and 45 ton boom from Sheepscot. the two dump trucks were built from Kibri kits with Walthers resin Mack R cabs. The heavy service truck in the lower right is an Atlas Ford LNT-9000 with Custom Finishes bed and Herpa Hi-Ab crane. Other vehicle models include Norscot bulldozer, NZG excavator, Ertl backhoe, sheepfoot built from modified Corgi Junior Rayco roller, Trident Chevy Suburban, Busch Louisiana State Police Caprice, and Ertl Dodge pickups.
